We have a lot of evidence of what happens when the government gets a taste of control. Of all the examples, Gov. Gretchen Whitmer might take the cake. Today she announced an extension until Dec. 20 of her order that was supposed to end tomorrow. Using the excuse of “slowing the spread” I don’t see this ending anytime soon.
You can read all the details of the order on the Michigan.gov website.
She also said that “The science is settled — the best way to slow the spread is to double down on wearing masks, social distancing, and limiting indoor gatherings where people are most at risk to contract COVID-19.” Except I’m not sure the science is settled since that doesn’t seem to be stopping the virus anywhere in the country.
