In a fiery speech on the Senate floor, Senator Rand Paul called out democrats for their Impeachment hypocrisy. After he read quotes from democrats over the last couple of years, he then asked the Senate if they should hold them accountable for inciting violence. Paul then made a point of order to dismiss the second impeachment trial of former President Donald Trump. His reasoning was it’s unconstitutional, and this forced fellow Republicans to vote on whether to stop the trial before it started. It failed but with only 5 republicans going along with democrats. That means 45 republicans voted that the impeachment trial was unconstitutional. It will be interesting to see any of the 45 vote to convict after voting the trial was unconstitutional.
These 5 voted with democrats that the impeachment of a former president is constitutional.
• Susan Collins (ME)
• Lisa Murkowski (AK)
• Mitt Romney (UT)
• Ben Sasse (NE)
• Pat Toomey (PA)
The vote showed that it will be difficult for Democrats to obtain the 17 needed to convict Trump. You can see how your senator plans to vote on this new website we created and get contact information. We will be using this website going forward to track the GOP at a federal and maybe state level.
