2024 is off to the races

Senators with challengers:  Manchin, Stabenow (said she was retiring), Hawley, and Feinstein

1/ There is already 2024 action with Democrat Senators 

California Democrat U.S. Reps. Katie Porter (Beating CA Rep. Adam Schiff) has launched her bid for the seat occupied by 89-year-old incumbent Sen. Dianne Feinstein—who hasn’t announced whether she will retire yet. The Republican challenger for Porter’s seat has already said he will run again for the now-open seat. Democrat U.S. Reps. Barbara Lee has also said that she will run. 

Meanwhile, in Michigan, Sen. Debbie Stabenow (D) has said she would retire. Rep. Debbie Dingell (D) has said she’s considering a seat bid. Other Democratic choices include Lt. Gov. Garlin Gilchrist, U.S. Reps. Elissa Slotkin of Lansing, U.S. Reps. Haley Stevens of Birmingham, Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson of Detroit, and former U.S. Rep. Brenda Lawrence of Southfield. Republican state Sen. Ruth Johnson is considering a bid for the seat. Other options include U.S. Reps. Lisa McClain, Former U.S. Reps. Mississippi House of Representatives District 23: “Unofficial results show Tuesday’s special election for state House District 23 will be decided in a runoff on the final day of the month.” (WTVA

Virginia

State Senate District 7 was last represented by Jennifer Kiggans (R). Virginia Democrats flipped the seat. Virginia Beach Councilman Aaron Rouse beat his Republican opponent, Navy veteran Kevin Adams. This increases the Democrat’s control to 22-18.

House of Delegates District 24 was last represented by Ronnie Campbell (R). Campbell died on December 13, 2022. His widow, Republican Ellen Campbell, was unopposed for the party’s nomination and beat Jade Harris by 63.11%.

House of Delegates District 35 was last represented by Mark Keam (D). Democrat Holly Seibold won the race by 67.31%.
